You Can Soon Play All The ‘Jak And Daxter’ Games On The PlayStation 4 : CULTURE : Tech Times

Gamescom Opens to the Public

PlayStation 4 owners will soon be able to download “Jak II,” “Jak 3,” and “Jak X: Combat Racing.” With the rerelease of these titles, does this mean that Naughty Dog is working on a new “Jak and Daxter” game?

Fans of the classic Jak and Daxter games from the PlayStation 2 will be able to play them again on the PlayStation 4 soon.

Naughty Dog said in April that four titles from the Jak and Daxter franchise will be released for the PlayStation 4 this year, and it appears that the developer will keep that promise.

‘Jak And Daxter’ Classics On The PlayStation 4

Naughty Dog said that four Jak and Daxter games from the PlayStation 2 will be released on the PlayStation Store as digital downloads for the PlayStation 4. These are Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II, Jak 3, and Jak X: Combat Racing.

Sony added Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy to the PlayStation Store a few months ago as a PlayStation 2 Classic game that PlayStation 4 owners can download. However, the rest of the promised Jak and Daxter games were still missing, until now.

On the official PlayStation blog, Sony revealed that Jak II, Jak 3, and Jak X: Combat Racing will be released to the PlayStation Store on Dec. 6. The games will carry a price tag of $14.99, similar to Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. Alternatively, the three titles can be purchased as a bundle for $39.99.

Like other PlayStation 2 to PlayStation 4 games, the three Jak and Daxter titles will receive support for 1080p visuals and trophies. There will also be some minor technical improvements, including quicker loading times.

The blog post highlighted that the Jak and Daxter franchise significantly changed with Jak II, as Jak was given a voice in addition to the witty lines of Daxter. With Jak able to talk, Naughty Dog transformed the initially whimsical tone of the series into a much darker one in succeeding games.

In fact, the blog post claimed that the Jak and Daxter series formed the foundation of Naughty Dog’s storytelling innovations, leading to critically acclaimed hits such as the Uncharted franchise and The Last of Us.

‘Jak And Daxter’ Revival In The Works?

With more Jak and Daxter games made available to the PlayStation 4, fans of the franchise may be hoping that the revival of the series is in the works.

Naughty Dog has denied that it is developing a new Jak and Daxter game, and there may be no reason to doubt that claim. The developer just released Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and currently might have its hands full with The Last of Us: Part 2.
