Dubai Tourism Surges with 3% Growth in Early 2025

Dubai's tourism sector has recorded a 3% year-on-year increase in overnight visitors during the first quarter of 2025, according to Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing . This growth follows a record-breaking 2024, which saw 18.72 million international visitors—a 9% rise from the previous year.

Kazim highlighted this upward trend during a press conference organised by RX Global, in collaboration with strategic partners including the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism , Emirates, IHG Hotels & Resorts, and Al Rais Travel. The event served as a prelude to the upcoming Arabian Travel Market , scheduled to take place from 28 April to 1 May at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The sustained growth in tourism is attributed to Dubai's strategic initiatives under the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double the city's economy by 2033. The agenda focuses on enhancing Dubai's status as a global hub for business and leisure, with significant investments in infrastructure, talent acquisition, and market diversification.

In 2024, Dubai's hotel sector expanded to 154,016 rooms across 832 establishments, up from 150,291 rooms in 2023. Average occupancy rates increased to 78.2%, with occupied room nights rising to 43.03 million. The Average Daily Rate remained competitive at AED538, while Revenue Per Available Room grew to AED421.

Dubai International Airport also reported significant growth, handling approximately 23 million passengers in the first quarter of 2024, an 8.4% increase year-on-year. The airport is on track to surpass its previous annual passenger record, with a forecast of 91 million guests for 2024.

The city's appeal has broadened beyond luxury tourism, attracting a diverse range of visitors seeking cultural experiences, adventure activities, and historical sites. Efforts to promote areas like the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood and traditional marketplaces have contributed to this diversification.

Dubai's strategic partnerships and global marketing campaigns have played a crucial role in driving tourism growth. Collaborations with international airlines, hospitality groups, and influencers have expanded the city's reach and showcased its offerings to a global audience.
