UAE Secures Dh5.8 Billion in Defence Contracts at IDEX 2025

A significant portion of the investment, amounting to Dh3.76 billion, has been allocated to Calidus Aerospace for the procurement of the HEDA Missile System in its initial phase. This ground-to-ground missile system is designed for mounting on various armoured vehicles, including light infantry fighting vehicles, thereby augmenting the UAE's tactical defence operations. Calidus, a prominent Emirati defence firm, showcased the HEDA system at its expansive outdoor pavilion during IDEX 2025, highlighting its commitment to advancing indigenous military technology.
In addition to the missile system, the UAE has entered into a Dh1.38 billion contract with DTEC Industries Limited for the acquisition of 50-metre marine traffic boats. This move is poised to bolster the nation's maritime security and operational readiness. Furthermore, a Dh492 million agreement with International Golden Group has been established for the supply of various ammunition types, ensuring the armed forces are well-equipped for diverse operational scenarios.
On the international front, the UAE has secured two contracts collectively worth Dh213 million. A Dh181 million deal with Italy's Augusta Westland Aviation Services focuses on providing technical, engineering, and logistical support, along with the supply of aircraft spare parts. This partnership aims to maintain and enhance the operational efficiency of the UAE's aerial fleet. Additionally, a Dh32 million contract with French company MBDA has been signed to offer spare parts, maintenance, repairs, and technical support for naval equipment, thereby strengthening the nation's naval defence systems.
These agreements contribute to a cumulative total of Dh9.77 billion in defence contracts signed over the first two days of IDEX and NAVDEX 2025, spanning 18 distinct deals. The Tawazun Council, responsible for managing acquisitions and contracts on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and security agencies, emphasised that these collaborations are pivotal in advancing the UAE's strategic objectives. By fostering partnerships with leading local and international defence companies, the nation aims to enhance its defence capabilities, stimulate investment in advanced technologies, and support sustainable development within the defence sector.
