Dubai International Airport Braces for 2.5 Million Passengers in Late February Surge

Dubai International Airport is set to accommodate over 2.5 million passengers between 20th and 28th February, with daily averages of 280,000 travellers and a peak exceeding 295,000 anticipated on Saturday, 22nd February. This surge is attributed to a convergence of global events and school holidays in key markets, positioning this period as one of the busiest in the airport's history.

The influx is driven by international events hosted in Dubai and academic breaks in major regions, prompting families and individuals to travel. Dubai's appeal as a global hub for tourism and business continues to draw visitors worldwide, contributing to the heightened traffic at DXB.

In response to the anticipated passenger volume, airport authorities are implementing measures to ensure efficient operations. Travellers are encouraged to utilise the Dubai Metro for seamless transit between Terminals 1 and 3, offering a swift alternative to road transport. Additionally, passengers are advised to arrive at the airport well in advance of their flights to navigate the increased footfall effectively.

DXB's preparedness for such peaks is underscored by its recent performance metrics. In 2024, the airport achieved a record-breaking 92.3 million passengers, surpassing its previous high of 89.1 million in 2018. This milestone reflects a 6% increase from 2023 figures, solidifying DXB's status as the world's busiest international airport.
