Dubai gears up to host the 30th ITS World Congress

Dubai will play host to the 30th Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress from September 16 to 20, 2024, an event that marks a significant milestone in the global smart mobility sector. The congress, organized by the European and American arms of the ITS community alongside regional partners, is expected to draw over 20,000 industry leaders, technologists, and government officials from around the globe, with more than 800 speakers leading discussions across 200 specialized sessions.

The ITS World Congress, widely recognized as the world’s leading event for intelligent transportation systems, is poised to highlight cutting-edge innovations and future trends in areas such as automated mobility, electrification, and data-driven urban transport systems. Dubai’s strategic positioning as a global hub for technological advancements makes it an ideal host for this prestigious gathering.

A key feature of the event will be the exhibition showcasing over 400 companies that specialize in advanced transportation technologies. Delegates will be treated to live demonstrations of some of the most progressive ITS solutions designed to transform urban mobility. These include smart city applications, autonomous vehicle systems, and advanced traffic management platforms aimed at reducing congestion and enhancing safety.

Charging Robotics, an Israeli firm specializing in wireless charging technologies for electric vehicles (EVs), has confirmed its participation. The company, known for its innovative approaches to integrating machine learning and artificial intelligence into parking systems, will showcase its latest developments aimed at optimizing EV charging in urban environments. As part of the Israel Export Institute delegation, Charging Robotics will highlight its solutions for automatic parking systems, designed to enhance convenience and energy efficiency.

Dubai’s hosting of the congress signals the emirate’s strong commitment to driving the future of transportation, particularly through its own smart mobility initiatives. The city has already made considerable strides with its Dubai Autonomous Transportation Strategy, which aims for 25% of all transportation in the emirate to be autonomous by 2030. With growing investments in electric and autonomous vehicles, as well as substantial improvements in public transport infrastructure, Dubai is positioning itself as a leader in smart city innovation.

Industry heavyweights from sectors such as automotive manufacturing, data analytics, and public transportation are expected to participate in the congress, with several panels exploring the integration of AI and big data into urban transport systems. These sessions will explore challenges, including sustainability, safety, and scalability, as cities worldwide grapple with rapid urbanization.

Government agencies, technology firms, and transport authorities will have the opportunity to collaborate and form partnerships aimed at addressing the mobility challenges of tomorrow. The event’s keynote sessions are expected to cover a wide array of topics, from electric vehicle deployment and charging infrastructure to traffic decongestion strategies and mobility-as-a-service platforms.

The ITS World Congress has, over the years, grown in prominence, attracting global attention not just for the technologies on display but also for the critical discussions that shape policy and regulation in the transportation sector. As the world shifts towards greener, more efficient transport solutions, events like this are increasingly pivotal in forging a collective path forward. Dubai’s role as host reflects its broader ambitions to integrate advanced technologies into its urban landscape and offer its residents and visitors a seamless, innovative transport experience.

The congress comes at a critical time as countries worldwide accelerate their adoption of electric vehicles, with governments and private sectors seeking solutions for scaling up EV infrastructure. The focus on smart charging systems, autonomous driving, and sustainable urban transport will undoubtedly make this year’s edition a key platform for forging partnerships that will define the future of global mobility.
