Emirates' First Retrofitted Boeing 777 Takes Flight to Geneva
Emirates has launched its first refurbished Boeing 777 aircraft, featuring the airline's latest cabin interiors, on the route to Geneva. The aircraft, which began its nose-to-tail cabin facelift on July 1, 2024, is part of a broader $3 billion investment in retrofitting 191 aircraft, including 81 Boeing 777s.
The revamped aircraft, a Boeing 777-300ER, will serve three initial destinations: Geneva, Tokyo Haneda, and Brussels. The service to Geneva commenced on August 11, 2024, followed by Tokyo Haneda on September 1 and Brussels on September 11. These routes will offer passengers Emirates' signature Premium Economy class, alongside a new Business Class configuration of 1-2-1, ensuring personalized privacy and enhanced comfort.
The refurbishment includes significant upgrades across all cabin classes. The First Class cabin features newly designed suites, the Business Class offers 38 new seats with increased privacy, and the Premium Economy introduces 24 state-of-the-art seats. Additionally, 256 Economy Class seats have been revamped to provide a more comfortable flying experience.
This move is part of Emirates' strategy to provide a consistent and superior customer experience across its fleet. Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized that the retrofitted aircraft will enable the airline to introduce its highly acclaimed products, such as Premium Economy, to more destinations within its network, enhancing the overall travel experience for its passengers.
The retrofit program aims to upgrade a total of 191 aircraft, including both Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s, making it one of the largest initiatives of its kind in the aviation industry. This extensive investment highlights Emirates' commitment to maintaining its position as a leader in passenger comfort and service innovation.
As more aircraft undergo refurbishment, Emirates plans to announce additional destinations, expanding the reach of its upgraded fleet. The Dubai-based carrier already operates its refurbished A380 aircraft on routes to major cities worldwide, including New York, London, Sydney, and Tokyo, and aims to serve over 36 cities with Premium Economy by February 2025.
This initiative underscores Emirates' dedication to offering the best possible in-flight experience, ensuring that passengers across all cabin classes enjoy enhanced comfort and cutting-edge amenities.
For passengers traveling to Geneva, Tokyo Haneda, and Brussels, the introduction of the retrofitted Boeing 777 promises a new level of luxury and convenience, reinforcing Emirates' reputation for excellence in the aviation industry.
