Sharjah-Basra Connection Takes Flight Again with Air Arabia's Return
Air Arabia, the Middle East and North Africa's leading low-cost carrier, marked its grand return to Iraq's southern metropolis, Basra, on Friday, June 7th, 2024. The inaugural flight from Sharjah International Airport re-establishes a direct route between the two cities, offering travelers a convenient and affordable travel option.
This marks Air Arabia's fourth Iraqi destination served from Sharjah, joining Baghdad, Najaf, and Erbil on the growing network. The new Basra route boasts a frequency of four weekly flights, catering to the increasing demand for regional connectivity.
The momentous occasion was celebrated with a traditional water cannon salute upon the Air Arabia aircraft's arrival at Basra International Airport. A ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by dignitaries from both Air Arabia and Basra International Airport, further solidified the renewed partnership.
Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, expressed his enthusiasm about the Basra route relaunch. "Air Arabia's new flights to Basra signify a significant milestone in our unwavering commitment to providing budget-friendly travel options within the region, " he remarked. Al Ali emphasized the importance of the new service, stating, "This route offers our customers the chance to connect directly between Sharjah and Basra, while benefiting from our value-driven products and services. We are confident this will further strengthen travel and trade ties between the UAE and Iraq. "
The Basra expansion aligns with Air Arabia's strategic vision to enhance its regional network and cater to the diverse needs of its passengers. Budget-conscious travelers seeking to explore the historical and cultural richness of Basra, Iraq's second-largest city, can now do so with greater ease and affordability.
Air Arabia's return to Basra signifies not only a commercial venture but also a bridge fostering cultural exchange and business opportunities between the two nations. The increased connectivity is expected to stimulate trade and tourism, benefitting both economies.
