Emirates Expands Refurbishment Program, Bringing Luxury to More A380s and 777s
Emirates, the world-renowned airline, announced a significant expansion of its multi-billion dollar aircraft refurbishment program. The move will see an additional 43 Airbus A380s and 28 Boeing 777s undergo a complete interior refresh, bringing the total number of aircraft slated for upgrades to a staggering 191.
This expansion reflects Emirates' unwavering commitment to providing passengers with an unparalleled travel experience. Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, emphasized this dedication, stating, "We're topping up our investment to introduce cutting-edge cabins on more of our A380s and 777s. " The upgraded cabins will boast a "best-in-class suite of products" across all seating classes, featuring the latest generation seats, contemporary color palettes, and refined cabin finishes.
The program has already seen 22 A380s receive a complete makeover. In July 2024, the first Boeing 777 will enter the refurbishment hangar for a two-week transformation. The refresh for the 777s promises significant upgrades, including a complete overhaul of the Business Class cabin with new 1-2-1 seating and the introduction of a highly anticipated Premium Economy section with 24 seats. This addition will provide passengers with more premium options and a wider range of travel experiences.
The reconfigured 777 will offer a total of 332 seats across four classes. This includes eight luxurious First Class Suites, 40 Business Class seats, and a generous 260 Economy Class seats. To accommodate the new Premium Economy section, Emirates will strategically remove 50 Economy Class seats, ensuring optimal comfort in all cabins.
The entire refurbishment project is being meticulously managed in-house at Emirates' state-of-the-art Engineering Centre. A dedicated team of over 250 project personnel is working tirelessly alongside 31 major partners and suppliers to deliver the stunning revamped cabins. Once the project reaches completion, Emirates will boast an impressive fleet featuring a total of 8, 104 Next-Generation Premium Economy seats, 1, 894 refreshed First Class Suites, 11, 182 upgraded Business Class seats, and a staggering 21, 814 Economy Class seats.
Passengers flying on the refurbished A380s can already experience the luxurious new Premium Economy cabin on popular routes like New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and London Heathrow. Additionally, the airline will be expanding Premium Economy service to Osaka in early June.
By February 2025, Emirates expects to offer Premium Economy on flights to 42 destinations. The upcoming arrival of the A350 in September and the deployment of the newly refurbished 777s will further bolster this expansion, bringing the highly sought-after cabin to even more cities across the globe.
With this significant investment in its fleet, Emirates is solidifying its position as a leader in passenger comfort and luxury travel experiences.
