Dubai Announces Plans for "Billion Meals Endowment" Tower

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, recently reviewed plans for a unique building project: the "Billion Meals Endowment" tower. This AED 800 million (approximately USD 218 million) project aims to not only provide a new landmark for Dubai's iconic skyline but also contribute significantly to global hunger relief efforts.

The tower, to be constructed on Sheikh Zayed Road, will be the tallest endowment tower in the United Arab Emirates. It is a key initiative under the 1 Billion Meals Endowment, a project launched by Sheikh Mohammed in 2021 with the goal of providing one billion meals to those facing hunger around the world.

During a meeting, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the design and construction details of the tower, which is being developed by Wasl Properties, a leading real estate developer in Dubai. The project adheres to international construction standards and incorporates innovative features to ensure its long-term sustainability.

Expressing his vision for the project, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the long-term impact it aims to achieve. "We want our humanitarian work to last for hundreds of years in the name of the UAE people," he stated. "This project is a key step in our efforts to grow the endowment assets, all contributing to the main purpose of protecting vulnerable people everywhere from the risks of hunger."

He further highlighted the project's significance in establishing a novel model for sustainable humanitarian efforts. "We aim to ensure the sustainability of our humanitarian efforts by creating a new model that derives from the UAE's economic development," he added.

The specific details of the tower's design and functionalities have not yet been officially revealed. However, it is expected to generate revenue through various commercial ventures housed within the structure. These proceeds will then be directed towards the 1 Billion Meals Endowment, ensuring a consistent source of funding for the initiative's mission to combat hunger.
